About Art4

Art4 is a Mac app that turns public-domain paintings from museum collections into desktop wallpaper, with the story behind each work.

Art4 includes 3,804 works by artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Johannes Vermeer, Gustav Klimt, and Katsushika Hokusai. Search by title or artist, or filter by movement, theme, artist, color, and works that match the display’s aspect ratio. Set a work as the macOS wallpaper, or let a collection rotate automatically. The menu bar shows the current wallpaper and its story, and a timeline follows artists and movements across centuries.
